Status first: as of October 26, 2026, no official 2027 pairing scheme for class 9 was verified on this site. This post is therefore a status and pattern-based guide only. It is not an official 2027 notification, and it does not announce official 2027 dates, fees or a new board scheme.
A pairing scheme tells you how chapters are grouped for short questions and how the paper is divided into objective, short-answer and long-answer parts. Until your board publishes its own 2027 scheme, use the previous pairing structure below as a study guide only, and always check it against your own board’s latest scheme.
Previous 9th Class Pairing Structure
| Subject Area | How Chapters Were Paired in the Previous Structure | What This Means for Revision |
|---|---|---|
| English and Urdu | Questions were drawn from different lessons and chapters, with short questions grouped across the book rather than from one chapter alone | Revise every lesson, not only the longest ones, and practise short answers from each unit |
| Mathematics | Short questions were grouped by related units, so a question set usually covered more than one unit | Revise units in related groups and practise exercise questions from each unit in the group |
| Physics, Chemistry and Biology | Short questions were paired across chapters, and science papers also included practical-style preparation | Study chapters together as the scheme groups them, and revise diagrams and definitions for each chapter |
| Islamiat or Ethics and Pakistan Studies | Questions were grouped by topic areas in the syllabus, with a choice between questions in the written paper | Learn the main topics in order and practise writing short, complete answers |
| Arts electives and Computer Science | Questions were grouped by units in the same way, with theory questions drawn from across the book | Cover all units, because a single unit on its own rarely covers a whole question set |
How to Use a Pairing Scheme
- Start with the paired chapters, so you revise the chapters that are tested together.
- Use past papers to see how the pairing worked in practice, rather than guessing from a summary alone.
- Do not skip a chapter because it looks small: in a paired scheme, small chapters can still appear in short questions.
- For science subjects, keep practical work and diagrams alongside theory revision.
What Could Change in 2027
The chapter groupings, the choice of questions, or the balance between objective, short and long sections may change in a new scheme. That is why this guide does not present the previous structure as the 2027 scheme. When the official 2027 scheme is published by your board, it replaces this guide for exam planning.
Please Check Your Own Board Before the Exam
Everything in this guide is a general Punjab board pattern based on the previous pairing structure, not an official single-board notification for 2027. Please check your own board’s latest pairing scheme and date sheet, and follow the instructions printed on your own question paper on exam day.
