One day and one night before exams tips

As the exam season approaches, two types of students are usually seen: those who take exams very seriously and those who take exams very lightly. There are very fewer students whose approach towards exams is of a moderate nature. Such students do not get burdened by exams and attempt the exams in a joyful way.

However, the students of the first two types often face difficulties during the exams and even after the exams. Students who take exams very seriously get overburdened by the heavy workload, thus deteriorating their health. On the other hand, those who take exams very lightly do not pay attention to their studies and eventually fail or get bad grades.

Day Before Exam Study Tips

Students often ask what to do on the day before the exam. Educationists recommend that students should adopt a balanced strategy while preparing for exams, for it will help cover the syllabus and attempt the exam well. In this article, we will suggest a moderate and effective way to use the 24 hours preceding the exam. You can follow these suggestions for getting good grades while not having to indulge distressingly in studies on the day before exams.

Things to do the day before exams

1. Revise Your Syllabus

The foremost task of the day to revise the syllabus. It is highly recommended to have completed the syllabus before the starting of exams. By doing so, you will not have to bother about learning new topics and preparing them.

If you have already covered your syllabus, you just have to give it a revision. Revision is very necessary for keeping the hold on the topics you have prepared.

Revising the syllabus a day before the exam helps you in two ways: it allows you to relearn the concepts and thinking about how each concept can be asked in the exam. In this way, revision should not be left undone.

Moreover, try to revise the course in the morning since a fresh mind works effectively. It is better to complete the revision before the afternoon, so you can get time for other activities of the day.

2. Stimulate Your Mind About The Topics

After doing a revision of the syllabus, you advised stimulating your mind about the topics you have revised. It is meant to say that you should think about how a topic can be asked in the exams. This will allow you to study each topic more comprehensively.

In this way, you can cover all the aspects of every topic and can answer the questions in the exam. Mind stimulation can be done by picking a topic, understanding it, determining its scope, and connecting its concept to the relevant ones.

This task is very crucial for science students because they are supposed to attempt a conceptual paper, so memorization does not really work in the exam. I have already written a post on how to increase your memory power with simple tips. Study each topic with respect to different aspects of it.

3. Highlight and Memorize

Highlighting and memorizing the important key points of each topic is very necessary for attempting the exam prudently. Try to highlight the important things and then memorize them. Keep it in your mind that memorization is not suitable for the concepts because they are to be learned.

Memorization helps for dates in Pakistan Studies, verses in Islamic Studies, formulas and equations in Physics and Mathematics, symbols of elements in Chemistry, and grammatical rules in English. Memorizing will allow you to write the necessary points in the exam, thus developing a good impression on the checker. Moreover, it is also really helpful in getting maximum marks in MCQs paper.

4. Consult Past Papers

In the board exams, past papers really help the students. Past papers give you an overview of the paper pattern, marks, and nature of questions. Most of the time, questions are repeated in MCQs and subjective paper.

So if you have already done preparing the past papers, you will take much time to fully attempt the paper. It will also get you good grades.

Consulting the past papers are relevant to the second activity we described above. Since it contains previous conceptual questions, you can easily understand how many ways each question can be asked. You can buy past papers from the market or read them online. Therefore, every student should try to read and solve past papers before the exam.

5. Visit Your Teacher

This is a conditional activity. Sometimes students get frustrated if they are unable to understand any topic before the day of the exam. This happens you have not paid attention to your studies before exams or when you have missed that topic in a hurry. If you face such a problem, the best way to visit your teacher. You can ask him to clarify your concepts and guide you. However, it is only possible if the teacher is approachable for you.

Therefore, we recommend you get your concepts cleared before you are relieved from the college. By doing so, you will not have to worry about any topic and you will have the know-how of every topic. Otherwise, it may have a negative impact on your preparation.

6. Engage in Group Study

Another great way to revise the concepts in to engage in group study. Group study is an effective way to teach your friends and to learn from them. As mentioned above, try to approach your teacher first. But if he or she is not available, the best thing you can do is to gather somewhere with friends and study together. Group study allows you to share your own concepts with others, so they may learn from you.

Moreover, it gives you the opportunity to learn from your friends the concepts you do not know. However, your group members should be sensible and good in their studies. Otherwise, the group study would only lead to untimely jokes, gossips, and fun.

7. Seek Online Assistance

The Internet is a useful tool if used positively. It is really helpful for students who want to study sincerely. It is also the third-best way to learn new concepts and enhance the already learned ones. If you think you cannot approach your teacher nor group study would be valuable, seek online assistance for preparing for exams. On the internet, you can easily find video lectures, notes, past papers, and MCQs. You can utilize these resources to better your preparation. StudyPak is the best option to search for study content and other relevant resources. Explore and drop your feedback in comments!

8. Don't Do Any Hectic Task

Good preparation and a fresh mind are needed for cracking any exam. The day before the exam is an important day. Your first priority should be the study because you can do much in a single day.

Besides that, educationists advise the students to avoid involving in any hectic task before the day of the exam. If you do, you are more likely to be tired and stressed. And this condition of yours will affect your performance in the exam. Be calm on that day and study comfortably. Those 24 hours are the precious ones because lost time is never found again. So utilize your time well!

9. Don't Panic at Studies

Students must realize that frustration, disappointment, and hopelessness lead to nowhere. If you think you have not prepared well and it is the last day before the exam, do not panic at studies. Try to invest your maximum efforts to achieve success. If you are facing any problem, resolve it calmly. Stressing oneself is of no benefit.

Therefore, avoid burdening yourself psychologically before the day of the exam. It will reduce your performance in the exam and eventually you will not be able to score high. Instead of taking depressive worries, struggle hard and leave everything else with God. Be psychologically and spiritually strong!

10. Arrange Your Stuff

Apart from studies, you must also be punctual in exam days. Many students' grades are affected by their little mistakes. Some fail to reach the examination hall in time; some go to the examination hall without roll-no slip; some have to press their uniform hours before the exam. These tasks must be done timely. Otherwise, your mind would be twisted and your preparation is diminished.

We recommend you arrange your stuff a night before the exam. Your uniform, stationery, and roll-no slip must be on your table. By doing so, on the exam morning, you can comfortably get dressed and leave for the examination hall. Therefore, you must consider the factor of punctuality too.

11. Sleep Early at Night

It is advised that you should give another revision to the syllabus at night. However, it is only desirable if you have taken a nap in the afternoon. If you have not napped, we do not recommend it to you. Since the student gets tired after spending all his energy on studies, peaceful sleep is necessary for him to wake up fresh in the morning.

Therefore, you should sleep early at night so you can wake up early in the morning. If you sleep, you will most likely get tiresome. Sleeping early at night would freshen your mind, enhance your consciousness, and relieves your body.

Anyhow if this is not your last night before exams, you may want to keep awake for an hour or so and want to avoid sleep to prepare your test. I have written a separate post on how to avoid sleep while preparing for exams at night.
